Both of timers not working when i turn on the switch, are they defective?

Take the plastic covering off the included batteries.

one of my timers doesn't beep at all -- when setting it or when it goes off. Is it defective, or did I do something to accidentally mute it?

am pretty sure yours is defective. I didn't have that problem. I had to put tape over the "speaker" to mute mine just a little. It was too loud. Mine work great, BTW.

does this digital kitchen timer have a 10 minute left and 5 minute left single beep like many of them do?

No, it does not but it's a great item to have around the house.

No, this does not include a clock. Only a timer.

  1. Larry says:

Very simple timer with huge display which is just what I was looking for. The displayed digits are 1.25 inch tall for minutes and 0.9 inch tall for seconds.

The 3 buttons to add minutes, seconds and start/stop work well and have a good tactile feel. The buttons have their function stamped into them but the stamped area is the same color as the button making the button function a little less obvious than they could be but still very intuitive.

The beeper in this timer is LOUD which is a great feature IMO. But, the digital kitchen timer beeps for every button press with the same loud volume. Not an issue for me but could be annoying for some. To enter multiple minutes and/or seconds requires multiple presses of the corresponding M or S buttons. You can press and hold either button to quickly add time but the timer beeps for each change in timer setting. Again, not an issue for me but others may not like that machine gun beeping noise while setting the timer. I think a single beep upon initial button press would have been enough. If the beep is too loud for you, you could put some tape over one or more of the beeper slots located on the back of the timer.

The power on/off slide switch located on the right side of the device is a unique feature. I would think that a digital kitchen timer like this would run for eons with the power on. Strange that the you slide the switch down rather than up to turn the timer on. Maybe this was designed in the lower hemisphere 😉 With the switch in the OFF position means no late night beeps when the battery runs low.
